Tears of Joy – Tofino Weddings
As a Juilliard trained classical cellist, I have played custom-designed weddings as far as I can remember.
One thing for sure, the most special and unique weddings I have ever played – are not the ones I played in the Plaza Hotel in NYC, Central Park or even the Gramercy Park Hotel – but right here on the pristine beaches of Tofino and Ucluelet.
As I arrived in Tofino, during the summer of 2017, I started performing at the Botanical Garden a solo act on both the cello and piano. I performed 7 days a week, and this for over a month during the summer season. The news went viral. A classical cellist in town? How on Earth did she get here? I guess I was in rare supply here in Tofino. Facing so much appreciation and demand from the guests, I decided to launch my private business and perform music for weddings in Tofino.
Cellobride was born that summer. Since then, I have performed all across Tofino, often to the great surprise and astonishment of people. I have heard so many times people say: “A Juilliard trained classical cellist, here in Tofino?” The unexpected deep cello tones combined with the magnificent sunsets on the beaches have together brought countless tears of joy.
My favorite venues are the ones that are outside on the beaches or within reach of nature’s landscape. Over the last year I have learned a lot about the outdoor’s acoustic and have acquired a sound system to team up with so I can turn the outdoor open spaces in a unique looking concert hall. This has enabled me to custom-designed each performances and also provide a real emotional touch to the bridal walk.
